Mackey
says : "These photos were taken in San Antonio last summer
at one of the missions, hhhmm, I think San Juan but I'm not sure.
The journaling is hidden up under the left photo which swings open
from the brad. It reads, 'We spent the day touring the missions
of San Antonio, this one being the largest. We had no idea when
we began the tour that the History Channel was filming a documentary
there on the French and Mexican War. The Catholics in the area were
against the filming, saying it was a sacred mission and the crew
was desecrating holy land. The day started out incredibly beautiful,
in fact, one of the most beautiful days on our trip, and I was able
to get some gorgeous shot of the actors, the mission and Molly and
Toby. However, as soon as the cameras and the guns entered the mission
grounds an incredible storm began to brew, horrific lightening struck
and one of the worst floods in San Antonio history ensued. Coincidence?
I don't think so..." Supplies used: Basic Grey Phresh and
Phunky cardstock, stickers, fibers, ribbon, stamps, paint, brads,
wooden tags (cut from balsa wood).

Sara
C. of Firestone, Colorado
|
Sara
says: "I used my computer's clip art program to find my college
mascot, the buffalo. I opened it in Microsoft Word and converted it
to grey scale so it would show up better. I then printed the colored
words on vellum to put over the buffalo. Also, when I journal, I like
to print the words directly on the paper I will use as a border for
a picture; it achieves a cleaner look, I believe. I have downloaded
many free fonts from the Internet; I used "Dephunked BRK"
for the words "University of Colorado at Boulder" and the
"Diploma" font for "Class of 2003". Supplies
used: Me and My Big Ideas Graduation Paper 12x12, Yellow Cardstock,
Me and My Big Ideas Graduation Sayings, Clear Vellum, Vellum Tape. |

Renee
L. of San Antonio, Texas
|
Here's
what Renee has to say about her project: "These are my 2 sons,
2 years ago, Spring of 2003. I went to take pictures of my boys in
the famous Texas Bluebonnets that grow wild every year in the Spring
(it's normal to see families sitting along a busy highway taking pictures
if there are Bluebonnets there!). I had a half roll of Black and White
film in my camera and I thought it would be useless to use b&w
film on beautiful "blue" Bluebonnets, but I had to use it
up. So I took the last half a roll of b&w, then a whole roll of
color. Believe it or not, the b&w pictures turned out better!"

Brenda
T. of Waterloo, Iowa
|
Here's
what Brenda had to say about her entry: "My children waited
all winter break (2004) for snow, and finally we were blessed with
a wonderful snowfall... My entry is a "star book" filled
with winter sledding photos of my husband, Steve, my son, Zackery,
my daughter, Zoey, and myself. We love to spend quality family time
together having fun on a great sledding hill in our home town of
Waterloo, Iowa. The "star book" allows me to share many
"themed" photos in a small individualized scrapbook that
is a unique presentation. I can leave it sitting out and it's shape
alone draws attention and the photos share our special times together
with others." Supplies used: patterned papers, various
embellishments, ribbon, mat board covers and themed photos.
